Introducing the Basic Radiological Incident Awareness (BRIA) webinar series

Many of us experienced the insecurity of the Cold War era. World nuclear security, however, has been deteriorating the last few years. Accidents such as nuclear power plant accidents at the Chernobyl and the Fukushima Daichi sites are stark reminders of the potential impacts of radiological incidents. The President recently released National Security Memorandum-16, which includes a mandate for USDA (as well as other Federal agencies) to ensure we have capabilities to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and cyber incidents impacting food and agriculture. The BRIA series is a seven-module series that will provide APHIS employees and stakeholders basic information on radiological and nuclear incidents. The training will assist APHIS employees in application of their existing skills to tasks assigned to APHIS in nuclear or radiological incidents. The modules will also provide a strategic overview of the types of animal and agricultural mission in nuclear or radiological incidents. The modules include:
